No Going Back On War Against Vandalism – NSCDC

The Commandant General of Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps, Abdullahi Gana Muhammadu, has expressed satisfaction with the security situation across the country as Muslims celebrate Eid-el-Kabir, avowing the NSDC commitment to fight against vandals.
Speaking to journalist, in Abuja, Muhammadu thanked God for a hitch-free celebration and the peace recorded nation-wide.
He declared that “no going back on anti-vandalism war”, stressing that the activities of economic saboteurs were geared towards selfishness and self-interest without taking into consideration the adverse effect on the society.
He said the corps was prepared to ensure that vandalisation of oil pipelines, electricity cables and equipment, telecommunication installations and other infrastructure was stopped.
Nigeria, he said, had lost billions of naira to the activities of vandals, and most worrisome was the cost of repairs of the vandalised equipment.
According to him, the money meant for developing and improving the economy to the benefit of citizens as dividends of democracy, was being channelled towards repairing and replacing vandalised items.
He, therefore, urged citizens to contribute their quota in the fight against vandalism and other social vices, adding that he and principal officers of the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps had been involved in the patrol as a way of assuring Nigerians of the security of life and property during the festive period.
