It was Sunshine Stars who got off the blocks faster and the pace of Prince Aggreh caused the visitors all sorts of problems though the hosts turned out wasteful and just could not make their chances count.
The first half ended with the home side unable to find the breakthrough as they wasted chanced with Prince Aggreh and Tunde Adeniji the biggest culprits.
The goal finally came in the 58th minute after Abia Warriors goalkeeper Chinedu Anozie spilled a cross under pressure from Tunde Adeniji and the striker wasted no time blasting the ball home.
The goal meant that Adeniji ended his goal drought of more than a month since he last scored for Sunshine Stars in the top flight in their 5-0 win over El-Kanemi on match day 25 on August 23.
The home team had several other chances but could not increase their lead as they endured a nervy closing to the game.
